I approached Andre ZS2ACP to write this:
Ken and his lifelong friend Al Akers ZS2U, worked for the SABC as sound engineers for many years. Ken eventualy started a security company which later converted to manufacturing of electronic equipment. He often spoke about the manufacture of audio amplifiers (approx.100 units)for the Rhodesian broadcasting co using 6l6 tubes.
Ken had the love for the military and served as a signals officer (citizen force) with the rank of Major. Our friendship grew over the years, more so when he heard I was a serving citizen force Major with AS anti-aircraft unit.
When he finally decided to retire, he started manufacturing top class vhf antennae for the commercial market from his well equipped workshop at home.
Ken was a very special person who lived by the rules and loathed any person who tried to manipulate or bend the rules especially in amateur radio.
A Humble person who was always willing to help...
