RETROSPECTIVE OBSERVATORY AMATEUR RADIO SOCIETY (ROARS)

Our aim at ROARS is as follows:

ROARSTo facilitate and specialise in using Antique, Vintage and Historic radio and ancillary equipment.
To hold the license and operate the amateur radio station ZS6IEE within Innes House.
To maintain an off-grid electronic communications capability in the event of disasters or other emergencies
To disseminate information relating to historical radio (Wireless), electrical, and electronic technologies to visitors to the SAIEE Innes House Museum, and via the media.
To further the objectives of education and the preservation of artifacts and literature of the museum.
To promote Amateur Radio communication, experimentation, and education in the central Johannesburg area by inter-alia being affiliated to the AWA and the South African Radio League.

Membership
Membership of the Society is free and by association. A prospective member need not be a licensed radio amateur but support of at least two club officers is required to confirm that voluntary work has been performed to further the purpose(s) of the society and/or the SAIEE museum.
